29 August 2015 - Johannesburg to Istanbul
Check in with your tour manager in Johannesburg at Oliver Tambo airport around 19:00. After check in we depart Johannesburg to Istanbul with a short stop over in Dubai. (Dinner on board flight)
30 August 2015 - Istanbul
After our arrival in Istanbul, we will be transferred to our hotel to refresh. Walk the streets of Istanbul at your own pace, and make sure to get a good nights rest, because tomorrow the site seeing starts! (Breakfast on board flight)
31 August 2015 - Istanbul
After breakfast it’s time to explore Istanbul, the only city in the world to span 2 continents. We will visit the famous Blue Mosque, the Aya Sofya, Topkapi Palace and the hippodrome with our local Turkish guide. (Breakfast)
1 September 2015 - Istanbul to Canakkale
We depart Istanbul and visit one of the most emotionally touching places in Turkey, the WW1 Battlefields of Gallipolo, as well as Lone Pine and Chunuk Bair memorials, ANZAC cove, the nek, Johnston’s jolly, as well as the original trenches and tunnels. We continue to our hotel in Canakkale, and enjoy dinner together as a group. (Breakfast, Dinner)
2 September 2015 - Canakkale to Troy to Kusadasi
Today we visit another highlight of Turkey, the famed Trojan Horse at Troy. We continue to the magnificent acropolis of Pergamum with the impressive temples and library. (Breakfast, Dinner)
3 September 2015 - Ephesus
Another day full of history as we take a guided tour of Ephesus and we visit the Temple of Artemis and the theatre. We continue to the former Greek village of Sirince, which is famous for fruit wines. Turkey has a long tradition for carpet weaving, and we visit a carpet village where we learn how the carpets are made by hand and what determines the value of the carpets. We return back to our hotel at Kusadasi end enjoy dinner. (Breakfast, Dinner)
4 September 2015 - Kusadasi to Pamukkale
Start the day with a wonderful display of locally hand crafted leather goods. We then continue to the impressive white calcium terraces, which is locally known as Travertines. At Pamukkale, we also tour the ancient city of Hierapolis. You will have the opportunity to swim in the hot springs that were used in Roman times for their therapeutic powers. We continue to our 5* hotel in Pamukkale, and enjoy dinner. (Breakfast, Dinner)
5 September 2015 - Pamukkale to Cappadocia
We travel down the ancient silk road of Turkey as we visit the Sultanhani Caravansary and the Mevlana museum in Konya. Tonight, you have an optional traditional folklore evening which always proves to be a highlight on the tour. (Breakfast, Dinner)
6 September 2015 - Cappadocia
Be amazed at the lunar landscape of Cappadocia through the Goreme Valley open Air museum and the fairy chimneys. You will also have the opportunity to explore the many levels of the the underground city. (Breakfast)
7 September 2015 - Cappadocia to Istanbul
We depart Cappadocia to visit the Capital of Turkey, Ankara. Here we will visit the Anitkabir, and the mausoleum of the famed Mustafa Kemal Ataturk before we return to Istanbul. (Breakfast)
8 September 2015 - Istanbul to Johannesburg
A free morning to explore the sites of Istanbul, before we continue to the airport for our flight back to Johannesburg (Breakfast, Dinner on board flight)
9 September 2015 - Johannesburg
An early morning arrival in Johannesburg around 05:30 AM. Say goodbye to new friends made, and take a lifetime of memories back home (Breakfast).
